|
Azam J Chowdhury was born in a
respectable and renowned Muslim family in Sylhet. Having completed his Masters
in English literature from Dhaka University, he attended short courses on
Business Administration in UK and Singapore. He also completed a course in
Pricing and Costing sponsored by UNCTAD under United Nations. He is the Chairman
& Managing Director of East Coast Group, a fast growing group engaged in
International Trading, Manufacturing, Power Engineering, Blending lubricants,
LPG Terminal for marketing & distribution, Mines & Minerals, Information
Technology, Real Estate, including investments in Banks, Finance, Leasing,
Insurance Companies.
He is the Chairman of Prime Bank Limited and Ex-Chairman
of Green Delta Insurance Co. Ltd. Presently, he is the Chairman
of Bangladesh-Norway Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
He is the Vice President of Bangladesh Energy Companies
Association and Member of Advisory Council of the Govt.
of the People's Republic of Bangladesh on Power, Energy
& Mineral Resources. He is a Director of Mobil Jamuna
Fuels Ltd., Mobil Jamuna Lubricants Ltd., Newscorp Ltd.,
which publishes ‘The Daily News Today’ and Central Depository
Bangladesh Limited (CDBL).
Due to his business as well as social background
& reputation Hungarian Government nominated him as the
Honorary Consul of Hungary in Bangladesh.
A man with vision,
Mr. Chowdhury is also involved in social and educational
development activities, which includes establishment and
management of ‘Mohtasin Ali High School’, a private high
school and Diabetic Center namely ‘Bakhtunnessa Chowdhury
Diabetic Center’ in his home town at Kulaura which offers
free medical treatment. He is a contributor of articles
on political affairs, business and shipping published in
the leading dailies and journals at home & abroad.
He
is a renowned Golfer of the Country and achieved laurels
several times in this sporting arena.

Quazi Sirazul

Quazi
Sirazul Islam is the former Chairman of Prime Bank Limited.
He was also elected as a Member of Parliament of People’s
Republic of Bangladesh in 1996 and 2001. He took part in
country’s liberation war in 1971. He is the Senior Vice
President of Bangladesh Jewelers Association and former
President of Baitul Mukarrum Business Associates (a leading
business forum). He is also a member of Federation of Bangladesh
Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI), and the Chairman
of City Hospital (Burn Hospital), which is the only private
sector hospital of this kind in Bangladesh. He is a Member
of the Board of Governors of People’s University of Bangladesh.
Mr. Islam has been providing financial assistance to the
brilliant students of Viquarunnessa Noon School & College
(a leading girl school and college of the country) by awarding
gold medal every year. He is also the life member of Sandhani
(a voluntary organization). He was awarded Kazi Jasimuddin
Gold Medal, Maulana Akram Kha Gold Medal, Sufi Motahar Hossain
Gold Medal and Atish Dipankar Gold Medal for his remarkable
contribution in spreading education. He was also awarded
MJF (Melvin Jones Fellow) Medal by the Lions International
Foundation for his special contribution to the social welfare.

Mohammad
Aminul Haque former Chairman and present Director of Prime
Bank Limited was born on January 01, 1940 at Rajshahi. He
comes from a respectable Muslim family. After graduating
in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of
Engineering & Technology, Dhaka in 1962 he joined Water
and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) an autonomous body,
as a Design Engineer. Subsequently he joined Dhaka Polytechnic
Institute as a Lecturer/Instructor. Immediately after the
liberation of Bangladesh he decided to opt for business
towards shaping the war torn economy and established Greenland
Engineers and Tractors Company (GETCO) Ltd. and continued
to serve as its Managing Director.
He is presently the Chairman of Prime Finance & Investment
Ltd. a leading non-banking financial institution in Bangladesh
and is also the Director of Newscorp Ltd. which publishes
English National Daily 'The News Today'. Mr. Haque is also
CEO, Bangla Cat in Bangladesh. Bangla Cat is a Caterpillar
dealer in Bangladesh. He is a widely traveled person. He
is married to Mrs. Nazma Haque who is a Director of Prime
Insurance Company Ltd. and a former Director of Prime Bank
Limited.

Qazi
Saleemul Huq, son of late Qazi Akramul Huq, was
born in a respected and renowned Muslim family in
Magura. After obtaining MBA from IBA of University
of Dhaka in 1979, he started his business career
through GQ Ball Pen Industries, a pioneer in production
of one time ballpoint pen in Bangladesh. Currently,
he is the Chairman of GQ Group of Companies, which
is a fast growing group because of his charismatic
leadership and hard work. GQ Group engaged in manufacturing
of fertilizer bags, snack foods, mosquito coil,
plastic furniture, writing equipments etc.
Mr. Huq is also the Chairman of Prime Insurance
Company Limited, Director of Prime Finance &
Investment Ltd, Director of Delta Soft Ltd, Managing
Director of GEP Telecom Ltd. and GEP Holdings Ltd.
He is also involved in printing media and is a Director
of Newscorp Ltd., which publishes The Daily News
Today. He is involved in various social & educational
development activities. Being a CIP (commercially
important person) several times he has became very
familiar and well known in the business circle.
He
has got the rare recognition of being elected thrice
as the Member of Parliament of Peoples Republic
of Bangladesh.
Interested
in philanthropic and charitable works, he established
one college and a high school in his area namely
Qazi Saleema Huq College and Qazi Saleema Huq High
School. He is associated with the Bangladesh-China
Friendship Society and other socio-cultural organization.
He founded Qazi Akramul Huq Welfare Trust and Dhaka

University, Beirut. He started his career in 1961 as Assistant Engineer, in East
Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority(EPWAPDA) and retired from govt. services
in December 1995. During his long & eventful career he held various important positions
viz. Executive Engineer, Director (BPDB), Chief of Planning, Ministry of Energy & Mineral

and Technology (BUET). He was Professor, Dept. of Water Resources Engineering, BUET,
(Head of Department, 1986-1988), Director, Institute of Flood Control and Drainage Research,
BUET, Dhaka. A widely traveled man Prof. Nishat has authored many books and articles and
technical papers at home and abroad.

Dr. Mohammed Aslam Bhuiyan |

Prof. Dr. Mohammed Aslam Bhuiyan, a renowned educationist was appointed as Independent
Director of the Bank in the 317th meeting of the Board of Directors held on 16 April 2009.
He obtained his MS in Sociology of Rural Development at the Moscow University, USSR (1976).
He was also educated in the USA and Germany. He did his Ph.D from Bombay University under
the fellowship of Indian Council of Science Research(ICSSR). He was Chairman and Professor
of Sociology at the Chittagong University and a member of Academic Council and Elected Senate
Member of the University. He was elected President of the Chittagong University Campus
Club in 1994. He is a life Registered Graduate of Dhaka University.
He was appointed Temporary Adviser of World Health Organization (WHO). Prof. Aslam wrote
more than 100 academic papers published in National and Foreign Journals including leading
News Papers. Professor Bhuiyan is the Vice Chancellor of the People’s University of Bangladesh since 2003.
